Oh and a question; If I should color my drawings, what type of coloring should I start with? What's easy to learn and mix colors with? I can always try photoshop but photoshop isn't really newb friendly lol. But I will get it, yay for Norway, legal to download everything here ~

Photoshop is very newbfriendly imo You only need to use like 3 features, which is very simple. The rest is for later, no need to touch that yet.But there are other programs you could use: Painttool SAI (I hate it but some like it) Corel Painter X (never used it myself) just to name some.
I started with photoshop and probably will end with it, once you are used to it, you dont want differently And it has many possibilities to widen your artstyles so its open to growth (if I want to go animate or something I can use the same program that I'm already used to, so I see that as a good thing )

I made a small tutorial about some black and white doodles I did, which explains like all the tools I used on the right (well exept for the eyedropper and the colourpick tool but you cant not use them xD)
Goes the same if you use colours

Hope you find it useful.

It is to help but it's not what I was looking for. Some of us actually draw on paper and I was more looking for pencil color or other. I get the feeling it's not very paper friendly here ;p

BTW I've been in denmark and not been able to do much here. I got new drawings tho will add them soon.

I think I'm going to close this thread. I don't know if I feel like keeping it up anymore. I haven't updated it thought because I've been bissy with my boyfriend being here at my place for 3 weeks. So I'm sorry about that. I can take some pictures now of the things I've made the past weeks thought, and see after that what I'd want to do ^^ I'm rather planning on making a comission thread, but wondering if I should even bother when I don't even got a scanner. Most people don't seem too interested in paperdrawings anyways :x

Wouldn't hurt to try I think paper drawings are just hard to show off since all the fine details get lost with a bad scan job or a bad photo. I know someone submitted a pencil drawing to the art contest and photographing it was tricky (I can't remember who it is off hand (Oh_frustration maybe??), but s/he's in the workshop thread and the pic is 'a meeting with an ancestor' I think) and maybe you can PM him and ask for camera tricks. I'll probably play around with my camera this weekend and see if the results are better than scanning

Late reply is late.

I prefer traditional drawings over digital painting myself. Colored pencil is my favorite medium and is the most forgiving and newbie-friendly, in my opinion. It's surprisingly easy to mix colors with them, too; just make lots of light layers and let the colors build up. This is easier to do with high-quality sets, of course, since they contain more pure pigment, but it's also possible with a cheap set. Just go slowly at it and color very lightly, switching colors as needed until they've built up to the correct color.

It usually takes me about ten layers of color to get an area colored (and the right color I want), while using a white or cream pencil to help blend or for things like gradients. And since you're applying colors in layers like that, it's easy to correct if something doesn't look right.

Just always keep a scrap piece of paper (or bristol or vellum or whatever you're drawing on - make sure it's the same material because different materials take color differently) to blend colors on in case you're not quite sure what you'll need for the result you want.

Yeah, it is. Honestly I do feel thought that taking a picture with a camera is better if you can get the picture clear ofcourse. All my experience with scanners is that they can't get the detals unless you've drawed with a black pen or something. but I dunno, maybe the scanner was just bad xD

@Verene: Thanks, I'll try that

If I remember it I will upload pics tomorrow of the drawings. I need good light so need to do it in the morning since here the sun goes down at 5 D;
